Dreams of Justice Fundraiser

This art series was born after the murder of Atatiana Jefferson (read more about that painting here). Her death hit me hard and I felt compelled to paint her portrait, both as a means of remembrance and as a gift for her family. Since then, I have continued painting portraits of people whose lives have been lost to police brutality and anti-black violence. This fundraiser is a way for me to be able to send these artworks to each family as a gift.

Thank you again for the support! The Joshua Brown artwork has been mailed, and scheduled for delivery by Friday, July 3.

The full expenses report can be viewed here:

Expenses Report

$220 of $220 raised

My ultimate goal with the Dreams of Justice series is to be able to send the artworks to the family of each person who was killed, as a gift to them (This tends to run pretty pricey due to the size of the canvases and what is needed for proper packaging.)

I am in touch with Joshua Brown’s mother, and will mail the original painting to her.

All funds raised will go strictly to mailing this artwork. If amount raised is above the goal, the additional funds will help cover mailing costs for the next artwork in line and/or supplies for new artworks in this series.

Dreams of Justice: Joshua Brown

Part of my series commemorating those whose lives have been lost to police brutality and anti-black violence.

Joshua Brown. It’s easy to forget names in the midst of life’s busyness. In the near constant barrage of tragedies and traumas of daily life. The names that only come to your knowledge because of the public tragedy attached. The ever-growing list of names to remember, lives we don’t want to forget.
